News: PRISM Tackles Rights

PRISM Rights Committee, a subset of the PRISM Working Group, has seen participation from a broad range of publishers including Hachette Filipacchi Media, Hearst Magazines, Meredith Corporation, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Reader's Digest, and Time Inc. The committee is tasked with expanding the PRISM specification's handling of text, image, and rich media rights descriptions. Focusing on rights tracking and not DRM, the group will decide whether to consolidate all rights elements within the PRISM Rights Language (PRL) namespace, define a new namespace, and/or deprecate the PRL namespace. The committee's work will be released as part of the PRISM 2.1 Specification scheduled for late 2008.
