About DEER


Overview

The Digital Enterprise Education and Research (DEER) Foundation is a non-profit foundation that was established by IDEAlliance in 2005.  The DEER foundation has a mission to promote research and education for graphic arts and the media industry. 

Research

DEER fulfills its research mission by funding research studies at the request of IDEAlliance Working Groups and Committees.  Watch this page for news about research studies that are underway and reports on studies that have been completed.

The first DEER Research project will be a study of real-world proofing to determine acceptable tolerances.  This project will begin in September 2007.  Proof measurement will be conducted by the Printing Applications Laboratory at Rochester Instituteof Technology.

Educational Alliance

DEER fulfills its educational mission by conducting online education through an ongoing series of live and recorded Webinars.  IDEAlliance members and  faculty and students participating in the DEER Educational Alliance can attend any IDEAlliance Webinar free of charge.  DEER is establishing an online archive of recorded Webinars are made freely available to IDEAlliance members, students and faculty. 

Funding

DEER is supported  revenues from designated IDEAlliance programs including the SWOP Certification Program and receipts from Webinars.  In addition, funds may be donated through a sponsorship program.  If you are interested in supporting DEER as a sponsor, contact Dianne Kennedy
